These terms are the agreement between you and Mad Becks Creative for your use of revery. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
Who can use revery
You must be at least 13 years old to use revery, or at least 16 if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. If you use revery on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these terms for it.
Your account
revery accounts are created through Sign in with Google. You are responsible for maintaining control of the Google account and the devices you use to access revery, and for the activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at reveryadmin@madbecks.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
Your content stays yours
You keep all ownership of the entries, photos, and other content you create in revery. You grant us only the narrow permission we need to run the service: to store, back up, and transmit your encrypted content to the devices and people you choose to share it with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account. We claim no other rights in it, and we do not use it for advertising or to train machine learning models.
Encryption, and what it means for recovery
Read this one carefully. Your content is end-to-end encrypted with keys that exist on your devices, not on our servers. This is what keeps your entries private from us. It also means that if you lose access to your keys — for example by losing every device where revery is signed in without having set up whatever recovery option the app provides — we cannot decrypt or restore your content. No amount of support escalation can recover it, because the ability simply does not exist on our side. Please use any backup or recovery mechanism the app offers.
Sharing with other people
revery lets you invite other people into shared spaces. Anyone you share with can read what you put there, and can save or copy it on their own device. Encryption protects your content from us and from outsiders; it cannot control what a person you invited chooses to do with what you showed them. Share accordingly, and only invite people you trust. Treat invite links as sensitive — anyone holding one can use it.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use revery to:
- break the law, or infringe anyone's rights;
- store or share content sexualizing minors, or content that harasses, threatens, or incites violence against anyone;
- upload malware, or attempt to breach, probe, overload, or disrupt the service or its infrastructure;
- reverse engineer, scrape, or resell the service, except where that restriction is prohibited by law;
- access another person's account or content without their permission.
Availability and changes
We are actively developing revery. Features may change, be added, or be removed, and the service may be unavailable at times for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We will try to give notice of significant changes, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability.
Ending the agreement
You may stop using revery and delete your account at any time from the app's settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, that creates legal risk for us or other users, or where required by law — and, where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will tell you why. Sections 3, 4, and 9 through 12 survive termination.
Disclaimers
revery is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or continuously available, or that content will never be lost.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mad Becks Creative will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of revery. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for revery in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability or exclusions of warranty. Where that is the case, the limitations above apply to you only to the extent permitted, and nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mad Becks Creative from claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising out of your misuse of revery or your violation of these terms or of applicable law. This does not apply to the extent a claim arises from our own wrongdoing.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and the courts located there will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where mandatory local law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we make a material change we will update the effective date above and give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use revery after a change means you accept the updated terms.
